Christmas Gift Ideas For Drummers

9/12/2019

The festive season is upon us once again!

Here are a few great gift ideas to keep the drummer in your life happy :)

Drumsticks

You can never, NEVER have too many pairs of drumsticks. Whether you use standard 5As or chunkier 5Bs, drumsticks are always the perfect gift for drummers.

Tip: Use your lighter maple sticks at home and bust out  your decent hickory sticks for live situations - this will give your hickory sticks a longer life.

Why not try brushes or bamboo rods for a softer playing style or nylon tipped sticks for more definition and extra durability?

Cymbals

Obviously, I had to plug Red Cymbals on this article at some point (#guilty).

The great thing about cymbals is that there's always a new sound to be found and an interesting finish that sets drummers drooling.
The same can be said for snare drums, but that's a whole other blog post...

But cymbals don't always have to break the bank! Small FX cymbals such as splashes and FX china cymbals can add tons of fun and new life to a drum set at a reasonable price.

Check out www.redcymbals.com for inspiration.

Practice Pad

There will always come a time when you can't use your full kit for some reason and that's where a practice pad comes in handy!

Often referred to as a rebound pad, practice pads come in all shapes and sizes from pads that wrap around your leg, pads that can be mounted on a snare stand and there are also tabletop varieties.

Spending just 10 minutes a day running through single strokes, double strokes and paradiddle varieties will keep your muscle memory fresh and really help you to bust out some epic chops when you're jamming.

Tip: Make sure your pad is at a height that doesn't impair your technique - the closer to the height of your actual snare the better!

Electric Drum Kit

Would your neighbors not appreciate you playing on an acoustic kit at all hours? That's no problem with an electric drum kit. Simply stick on your headphones and you can drum away to your hearts content. Electric Kits have advanced a great deal in the past few years and now many come with mesh heads that feel great to play and are gentle on your  wrists and fingers.

Pen and Paper...

If all else fails there are plenty of drumstick shaped pencils, pens, and even spoons online - this notebook caught my eye. Perfect for noting down the band set list!
